Brisbane Roar W-League defender Kim Carroll believes the two-time champions have peaked at the right time for their fifth Grand Final in six seasons.
Brisbane pulled off a 2-1 upset away to premiers Canberra United to reach Sunday’s decider, where they will meet Melbourne Victory at Lakeside Stadium.
“We were hoping for a better result in terms of where we finished on the ladder but we’re happy we made the top four and that’s all that counts in our season,” Carroll said.
“We’ve had an up and down season, I think everyone knows that. We have had a few losses where we probably should have won [but] we have come good at the end of the season which is the main focus I think.”
Carroll, capped 44 times for the Matildas including at the 2011 FIFA World Cup, will play a key role in Roar’s attempt to blunt the hosts, who feature the likes of Lisa De Vanna and Wales international Jess Fishlock.
“I think it might come down to defending – who defends best and who takes their chances when they come up,” she said.
