There’s been a bit of news since the last update, with a couple of players on the move in the past week or so. Most notably Tommy Oar has finally found himself a club, signing a two year contract with English Championship side Ipswich Town. Ipswich have started the season strongly and find themselves in the promotion places early on. Tommy’s first chance to make his debut will be after the international break away to Reading on September 11, although it will more likely be in the trip to Leeds the following week.
Also on the move is Robbie Kruse, who has secured a season long loan move from Bayer 04 Leverkusen to fellow Bundesliga side Stuttgart. Luke Brattan figures to be added to the European list by the next update, should his reported move to English Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion come through as is Matt Acton who is currently in Europe chasing a move having left NPL Queensland side Olympic FC.
Meanwhile in Asia former manager Mike Mulvey has reportedly ended his coaching stint at Sabah following the recent conclusion of the season. Joining Sabah in the 2nd Division of Malaysian football next season will be Sime Derby and ATM FA, who had former Roar players Reinaldo da Costa and Mario Karlovic respectively on their books this season
On the domestic front the A-League is still a month away, but the FFA Cup is up to the 1/4 finals and while the Roar are already out, a host of their former players remain. In addition to the swag of ex-Roar players at the two Melbourne A-League clubs, Kofi Danning (Oakleigh), Griffin McMaster (Heidelberg) and Jai Ingham (Hume City) all progressed to the last 8. Finally here in Brisbane, foundation Roar player and now player-manager of Lions FC, Warren Moon and his side have won the 2015 Canale Cup final with a 5-2 win over Pine River. Lions had already wrapped up the Brisbane Premier League premiership in a landslide, and will now be looking to add the Grand Final trophy to their collection this season.
