After a long off-season over the summer months, the third edition of the National Premier League’s (NPL) Queensland kicks off this weekend with plenty of intrigue surrounding it. Since last Septembers Grand Final which saw Moreton Bay Jets complete a seasons double there’s been a host of moves which have shaken up the competition, moves which promise to make this years competition even more competitive. The Grand Final in the National Premier Leagues Queensland Womens competition will be played out by the top two from the regular season after navigating their way through the finals to meet for the fourth time this campaign. NPL Queensland 2015 Grand Final Preview: Moreton Bay United v Brisbane Strikers

The top two from the regular season have progressed to the season finale, although they’ve taken different paths to the decider both on and off the park. Moreton Bay United Jets saw off the challenge of Olympic FC 3-1 at home last Saturday night in regular time, while Brisbane Strikers needed extra time to sneak past Redlands United after going a goal down in the first half. After last week’s controversial cancellation of the rained out catch up round, which ultimately handed Moreton Bay United both the Premiership and a berth in the 2015 NPL Finals Series, it’s Semi-Final weekend in the NPL Queensland. Victory League Licence Changes

The board of Football Federation Tasmania (FFT) today announced the promotion of Clarence United into the PlayStation 4 Victory League for the 2016-18-licence period. In addition, Launceston City retain their place in the eight team statewide competition and along with Clarence, will join Devonport Strikers, Hobart JEEP Zebras, Kingborough Lions, Northern Rangers, Olympia FC Warriors and South Hobart FC in the Victory League for next season. Forsyth Recognised for 50 Playing Years with Redlands United

Football Queensland CEO Geoff Foster has lauded the 50-year playing anniversary of Redlands United’s Brian Forsyth after he was presented with the Member Federation’s inaugural Achievement Award. Forsyth, who has spent his entire half-century at the club, was last week presented with the inaugural Football Queensland Achievement Award for his contribution to the game.
