Brisbane Roar interim Head Coach Frans Thijssen has indicated new signings Andrija Kaluderovic and Luke DeVere could start in tonight’s Asian Football Confederation Champions League clash against China’s Beijing Guoan at Gold Coast Stadium at Robina, kick off 7.30 pm.

Serbian international striker Kaluderovic made his debut for the Roar in a late-game cameo against Central Coast Mariners two weeks ago and scored from the penalty spot.

DeVere, a defender, has yet to make an appearance for the Roar since he re-signed with the club in January after four years playing in South Korea.

Thijssen is keeping his starting team close to his chest but at yesterday’s pre-match press conference he gave a sage-like nod when asked if the two new signings would feature prominently in tonight’s Champions League opener.

Kaluderovic could be especially handy for the Roar as he previously played for the Chinese Super League club while DeVere’s experience playing in Asia could be invaluable with tactics expected to be a big part of tonight’s match.

The Roar has never won an AFC Champions League match and drew 1-1 with Beijing Guoan in their home and away matches in the 2012 competition.

Beijing Guoan’s stars include Montenegro striker Dejan Damjanovic, who was signed from FC Seoul for $5 million and Zhang Chengdong, a hard-working right-sided midfielder who was a member of the China team that played in Brisbane recently in the AFC Asian Cup.

Also in the Roar’s AFC Champions League Group G are two-time Asian champions Suwon Bluewings, from South Korea, and 2007 champions Urawa Red Diamonds, from Japan.

The Roar’s other Gold Coast games are against Suwon on Tuesday, March 17, and Urawa on Tuesday, May 5. Their away schedule is March 4 (Urawa), April 8 (Suwon) and April 21 (Beijing).

Brisbane Roar has announced a 29-man squad for the 2015 AFC Champions League:
