Adelaide United’s young central defender Jordan Elsey has flown to Hong Kong to join leading Super League side Kitchee FC on loan for the remainder of the season subject to a successful medical.
The loan deal will see the 19-year-old remain with Kitchee until the end of May before returning to re-join the Reds for the lead up to the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 Season.
Gombau sees the opportunity as a great development experience for Elsey.
“I believe Jordan will gain a lot by playing in Hong Kong in a good competition and also to have the opportunity to play in the AFC Cup will be invaluable for him and also for us,” Gombau said.
“He will come back with many senior games and good quality matches under his belt.”
Subject to his medical clearance and receipt of his work permit, the deal should be finalised within the next few days.
