Melbourne Victory Football Club is delighted to announce quality young players Scott Galloway and Rashid Mahazi have each extended their contracts with the club for a further two years.

The signatures of Galloway, 19, and Mahazi, 22, commits the duo to the club until the end of the 2016/17 Hyundai A-League season and comes less than two months after the club re-signed 21-year-olds Connor Pain and Jason Geria also with two-year contract extensions.

Melbourne Victory Football Operations Manager Paul Trimboli said the re-signing of Galloway and Mahazi epitomises the club’s commitment to securing its finest young talent.

“Not only are Scott and Rashid fine players for our club and will continue to be but they are also well respected and quality young men.

“They’re exactly the type of footballers and personalities that we want at Melbourne Victory.”

Perth-born Galloway has played 38 Hyundai A-League matches for Melbourne Victory since his 2012 Melbourne Derby debut, in addition to 18 appearances for Australia at under-20 and under-23 level.

“Melbourne Victory is the biggest club in the country and I’ve enjoyed my time here, it’s been amazing and I want to continue my career at Melbourne Victory,” Galloway said.

“I feel my progression as a footballer is only going to enhanced being at this club, especially working with a great group of coaches led by Kevin so it’s the best environment for me to be in moving forward.

”You just look at our crowds that come week in week out and show their passion for the club, they are always amazing and it’s a club with a proud history that I want to be a part of.”

Mahazi, who came to Melbourne Victory from Northcote City and debuted in October 2013, also in a Melbourne Derby, has made 26 A-League appearances including 10 this season.

“The environment created at Melbourne Victory on and off the pitch is a fantastic one to be a part of and extending my contract to stay at the club was a priority for me,” Mahazi said.

“I have enjoyed every minute of my time at the club and I can feel something special for the group is not too far away so I’m over the moon to be staying for another two years.”
