Three second-half goals and a strong all round performance from Brisbane Roar saw them overcome an aggressive Melbourne Heart side 3-0 at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.

On paper it may have looked like a very comfortable win but it was the visiting Melbourne side who made most of the running and created more chances in the first half.

Michael Mifsud and Iain Ramsay will be kicking themselves for not being more clinical in front of goal as they were gifted glorious opportunities.

Heart came out firing and were playing a high line up the pitch which prevented Brisbane from playing their usual passing style.

Brisbane Roar found it difficult to move the ball around and could only rely on good passes to string together a play, which is what Heart wanted.

The first chance of the game came when Heart midfielder Andrea Migliorini played in a beautiful ball to Iain Ramsay who was put one-on-one with Brisbane keeper Michael Theo but blazed his shot wide of the post.

Just a few minutes later Heart were at it again this time an errant pass by Brisbane left back Corey Brown who was replacing Shane Stefanutto went straight to Maltese international Michael Mifsud but he fired just wide of the far post.

It took Brisbane 25 minutes to create their first half chance of the game through Matt McKay but his shot never troubled Heart keeper Andrew Redmayne.

A shot from Thomas Broich in the 37th minute forced a save out of the Melbourne Heart custodian but he did well on the second attempt to keep hold of the ball.

Melbourne Heart went into the break frustrated and hoping that these missed opportunities wouldn’t cost them the game.

The way Heart were playing in the first half you wouldn’t think they haven’t won away from home since New Year’s Eve 2011.

Much to the disappointment of the Heart it only took Brisbane two minutes in the second half to get on the score sheet.

Brisbane’s Luke Brattan played a cross into find the unmarked  ’slippery fish’ Henrique who had time to take it on his chest and finish with a half-volley in the bottom left hand corner.

Heart defenders Patrick Gerhardt and Jeremy Walker were both caught out ball watching which resulted in Brisbane grabbing their goal.

The little Brazilian then doubled his tally when Dimitri Petratos pulled off a brilliant shot only for Redmayne to parry the shot into the path of Henrique who neatly tucked away his second of the match and put the game out of reaching distance for Melbourne Heart.

Henrique though may have been slightly offside as replays showed when Petratos fired the shot. Nonetheless Heart had a mountain to climb from 2-0 down.

Brisbane skipper Matt Smith then put the nail in the coffin with a cool tap in to make it 3-0 after Franjic and McKay combined well to set up the skipper.
