Socceroos and Bayer Leverkusen winger Robbie Kruse set to miss the rest of the season and potentially the World Cup after sustaining injury on winter break with the German side.
According to reports in Germany from Bundesliga.com Kruse has torn his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Friday, an MRI scan the following day confirmed the extent of the injury.
A blow to the 25-year-old who was expected to feature more in the second half of the season for Leverkusen after teammate Sidney Sam’s move to Schalke for next season was confirmed.
The Queenslander is set to undergo an operation next week. The injury will most likely end his season and any World Cup aspirations he had in the coming months.
