An MRT scan on Monday revealed Socceroo Mathew Leckie suffered a lesion of his collateral ligament plus a build up of fluid and a bruised bone in his right ankle. The injury, sustained in the 0-0 draw with fellow Aussie Ben Halloran’s Fortuna Düsseldorf, was caused in bizarre fashion when in frustration the forward jumped into the air only to land awkwardly.
Leckie will miss the match on Wednesday against FC Erzegbirge Aue and his participation in the next home match against SC Paderborn is also in doubt.
“Mathew was on a roll recently. A pity that he will miss the match against Aue. We hope for a speedy recovery and his services in our home match against Paderborn” FSV chief executive Uwe Stöver told Matthais Gast of the official FSV website.
“It is annoying that I am missing the Aue match. But I will exhaust all possibilities to take part in the Paderborn match” said Leckie.
Mathew Leckie has made 26 appearances for FSV Frankfurt in all compettions, scoring 10 times and setting up a further 7 goals.
