National domestic football played out a full fixture list this week and Robbie Striker Football Tipping had the full spectrum covered. So how did you fare? Who were the tipping masters of the round and if you are not a part of the action yet, why not?
NATIONAL YOUTH LEAGUE
Starting with the National Youth League and round three certainly didn’t lack goals with players across the five matches finding the back of the net 17 times.
The bulk of the goals came from the Sunday morning fixture between the Australian Institute of Sport and Perth Glory, 5-2 the final score with the AIS claiming their second win of the season. The remaining Sunday matches saw the undefeated Adelaide pick up their first win of the season overcoming Newcastle 1-0, Brisbane also notching up their first win with an impressive 3-1 away win over Western Sydney and the Melbourne derby honours claimed by Victory with a 2-0 win.
The lone Saturday fixture saw Patrick Zwaanswijk’s Central Coast lose at home to the in-form team of the competition Sydney FC 1-2. Sydney FC have started the season flying with three wins on the bounce having only conceded one goal in the process and rightfully sit at the top of the table.
From the tipping point of view “maicoolz” claimed tipper of the week, correctly tipping the field with one correct margin and one correct score and a total of eight points. ‘Dinnerlegend’ was only one point behind for the week also tipping five from five but one correct margin short. Other notable efforts were ‘jackbauer’, ‘lunchtimelegend’ and Robbie Striker tipping four of the five correct with a correct margin and correct score for seven points.
This weekend’s efforts has placed ‘jackbauer’ on top overall with 16 points, two points clear of the chasing pack.
The first round of the W-League also produced plenty of goals with 18 over four matches, creating a tipping nightmare.
Newcastle and Perth set the tone with the first match on Saturday finishing 2-5, the Purple swag taking the points there. Grand finalists and champions from seasons past Brisbane and Canberra met in Brisbane with the visitors taking all three points via a 3-0 win. Sunday saw Adelaide and Western Sydney play out a one all draw and then last year’s grand finalists clashed in Melbourne with Sydney FC finishing off a perfect weekend for the Sky Blues club in general after trouncing Victory 5-1.
As mentioned earlier the results made tipping difficult with no one in the competition predicting more than two correct winners. ‘Teal 30′ and Robbie Striker finishing best for the week with two correct winners and one correct score.
With 12 goals across the league and a couple of surprise wins; three from five was the best anyone could achieve for round five of the A-League this weekend.
The Friday night clash saw Western Sydney Wanderers continue their unbeaten start to the season and extending Melbourne Heart’s woes with a one nil away win. Wellington and Perth played out a one all draw in Christchurch leaving the Nix still without a win this season after three home matches. Newcastle doubled their season goal tally with a 2-1 win away from home against Adelaide who lacked a little discipline. Sydney FC claimed an emotional win over their Big Blue rivals Melbourne Victory presenting ADP with a welcome birthday gift. Sunday saw table-toppers Brisbane extend their great record away to Central Coast with a dominant 1-0 win in Gosford.
So what did this mean to the tipping charts? Well ‘flyghost’ was the tipper of the round with seven points. However right behind on six points was no less than 10 tippers, ‘birdcage’ was one of them, who – with the round points tally – reclaimed overall leader from ‘fishy’ and now sits three points clear at the top.
