Perth Glory Football Club is delighted to announce that exciting Brazilian winger Sidnei Sciola Moraes has signed a new, two-year deal with the club.
The 27-year-old has been a stand out performer in the first ten rounds of the Hyundai A-League and scored his first official goals for Glory in their 4-2 win over Wellington in Round 9.
Apart from missing last week’s game against Melbourne Victory, Sidnei has started every game for the Glory and played 774 minutes (86 mins per game), scored two goals (equal-most with Jamie Maclaren and Ryo Nagai) and has been involved in seven of the Glory’s 10 goals (70%) this season.
Since transferring to the Glory in the off-season, Sidnei has tormented opposition defences with his marauding runs down the left wing and leads the Glory in assists (3), tackle evades (18), crosses (46) and balls into the penalty area (48), and is one of 13 players in the league that has had 10 or more shots with at least 50% on target percentage (14 shots, 7 on target).
His performances have not gone unnoticed with Sidnei leading SBS’s Les Murray Medal for the A-League’s best player on 13 points after 9 rounds.
Perth Glory Chief Executive Officer, Jason Brewer singled out Sidnei as one of the best international players currently gracing the Hyundai A-League.
“It’s a great sign of support for the club, and great news for the fans, that Sidnei has agreed to a further two years at Glory.”
“Sidnei has fast become a fan favourite and we all believe he has the potential to be one of the greats in the A-League. It’s fantastic to see the reaction from fans when he gets the ball with his full arsenal of tricks and direct style of play,” Brewer said.
The Brazilian midfielder says it was an easy decision to stay in Perth for another two years with his team mates and fans making him feel very welcome
