Sydney FC has accepted the eight match suspension handed to defender Tiago Calvano by the Football Federation Australia (FFA) Disciplinary Committee (DC).
The Brazilian was charged with unsporting conduct towards a match official following an incident in the 25th minute of Sydney FC’s game against Melbourne Victory in round five of the Hyundai A-League.
Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata said: “We are obviously disappointed to lose Tiago for eight games but we accept the decision of the disciplinary committee.
“In hindsight Tiago admits he made a wrong decision and accepts his punishment. However we still believe what he did was in no way malicious.
“He is a passionate man by his nature and plays the game in that way.”
Tiago will become available for Sydney FC’s next game against Melbourne Victory in the round 16 Australia Day (January 26) clash at Etihad Stadium.
